Creating a Makeup Base with Collection

Monday, 21 August 2017
For today's post, I'm doing something a little different, I'm doing a one brand base with Collection. I've been using Collection's concealers for years but after reading a really good review of the foundation, I had to pick it up. So I thought I would do a 'review-type' post looking at everything and even at how they work when they're put together.

Packaging

I don't mind the packaging of these products from Collection, but I'm not mad about it like, it's not exactly screaming high quality and ultimate durability. Although I wouldn't change the concealer packaging, however if I was able to design them myself I would probably change the foundation bottle especially to make it a little more sleek.

Colour Correction

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Lemon Fair Cool Medium

I've tried colour correcting with so many different products and brands but none did what I wanted them to do perfectly. A lot of products I thought were too heavy and ended up making my skin look cakey, and when your trying to correct an area you don't need a product to draw more attention to it. However I was pleasantly surprised when I tried out the Lemon Colour Correction Concealer because it blended into my skin easily and I've been using it to conceal the dark circles under my eyes and it perfect for brightening. There are also Colour Correction Concealers in Green and Lilac, as well as a Palette which has the three colours included.

Concealer

I absolutely love the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I rarely use anything else because it's the perfect consistency and colour for my skin. For those days when I have no tan I always reach for the lightest shade, fair and then I go for the cool medium to cover blemishes when I have a tan although I still sometimes use the fair around my eyes.

Foundation

Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation 1 Porcelain

I heard about Collection's Lasting Perfection Foundation from a local makeup artist who has compared it to the MAC Studio Fix Foundation and I really like the finish of the foundation. I found that the consistency and finish of the foundation works really well with the concealers, and they blend together really well to create the most flawless finish. My main issue with this foundation is that the lightest shade, Porcelain, is too dark for my natural skin tone, so I can only wear it when I'm tan, which isn't that often, but I will definitely be using this as my foundation for when I'm wearing tan.

Loose Powder

Collection Sheer Loose Powder Translucent

I'm always on the search for a good powder to set my makeup and so I picked up the Collection Sheer Loose Powder in the shade translucent and it does a great job at fixing my makeup and making it last even longer. I will definitely be picking up a pressed powder from the brand now because I honestly don't think that it could be at all disappointing.

Wear

I am so pleased with the wear of the Lasting Perfection Foundation and I think it is helped by the Sheer Loose Powder. Although I do admit that I use the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (review coming soon) and so that improves the wear of the base as well.

Price

All of the Collection products used in this post were purchased in Superdrug. The Colour Correction Concealers and Lasting Perfection Concealers retail at £4.19 with the Lasting Perfection Foundations costing just £5.99. Finally the Sheer Loose Powder costs just £2.99.
