Freedom ProArtist Custom Palette | with NEW HD Eye Foils

Friday, 7 July 2017
I am a massive fan of trying out everything from affordable makeup brands and I have been trying out a lot of products from Freedom recently as well as creating a palette. This week I saw the new HD Eye Foils in Superdrug and as soon as I saw 'Burnt' I HAD to buy it (tbh I say that about everything I buy) so I thought I would include it in this post and give my first impressions of it.

Packaging
I love the packaging of this palette as its sturdy, keeps all the powders inside intact and it is lightweight for if you wanted to travel with it. I know a lot of people just buy the singles and keep them in the plastic trays that they come in but for me it's not easily stored and they would easily get lost so I love that the empty palettes are there to keep everything in one place and to stop them from getting damaged.

Application
To apply I use my regular Morphe eye brushes as usual, and they go on really well. Honestly they aren't as pigmented as I've found the Makeup Revolution and MUA ones to be (they are all produced under the brand TAM Beauty) and so I would still tend to lift their palettes more but I'm loving the new eye foils that I got in the Burnt set and they do apply a little better thankfully. I use my Real Techniques blush brush to apply the Blush and for the banana powder I use the Real Techniques setting brush.

Formula
With the singles, there is three ranges in the eyeshadows - colour, shimmer and matte - and each of the ranges have slightly different textures and apply to the eyes slightly differently with the colour range being slightly easier to work with. Freedom have really stepped up in terms of pigmentation which their eye foils and as you can see from the swatches, they are the perfect shades to create a smokey brown eye look with. With the blush and banana powders they give a really subtle effect which I love as I hate a strong blush anyways so I wouldn't want either to be any more pigmented than they are.

Colour
I love all of the shades that I picked up and I think that these shades are what I'm missing from other palettes that I love so I tend to use maybe one or two shades from this palette to go along with shades in another. I have loads of palettes so I made sure that the shadows I was picking up were not too similar to shades I already had in my current palettes.

Wear
Although it does take a bit of work to get the pigmentation I tend to look for for my eyes, these shadows stay in place all day and do not fade or anything and so the extra effort does pay off when you see your eyes still looking perfect at the end of the day.

Price
The bigger singles (blush and banana) were £3 each and the eye singles are £2 each (I got all of mines on the 3 for 2 offer at Superdrug so it worked out even better. The eye foil set and the empty palette were both £5. So without the 3 for 2 being taken into account this palette would cost £30 which is perfect as the shades accompany the rest of my eye shadow shades perfectly.

  1. I normally go for Sleek palettes for my eyeshadows, but I had no idea Freedom did singles and let you create your own palettes! I probably don't have a big stand in my local store. The foils are so pretty, and that's quite affordable! xx

  2. I've never actually tried any of the Sleek eyeshadows. Yeah you can get them online too if that's any handier for you like, but I actually really like them because theres always one shade I'm looking for that isn't in any of my palettes. It's great cos you get so much product in them as well. x
