July Favourites

Monday, 31 July 2017
July has came in so quickly, its unbelievable really, and it's just 1 week until I'm off on holidays for 2 weeks and I'm honestly so excited to see what August brings, although July really was a brilliant month.

Beauty

July Favourites Beauty Tan Moisturiser Skincare Primer GOSH Solait Superdrug L'Oreal

This is my everyday primer for when my skin is not too oily or dry and it is just the perfect base for my skin most days. I've done a whole post on this GOSH primer along (here) with the other two primers that I use and explain why I don't just use one primer, although this one is the one that I reach for most days.

Oh my goodness, this is super hydrating and you really don't feel it sitting on your skin as its really lightweight and you can feel it sink into your skin and it stays hydrated for hours. I've done a full review in this post if you want to find out more.

I love being tan, but I burn after being in the sun for half an hour and so it's not really an option for me to tan naturally. Fake tans however are my best friend at the minute, and I'm using a few different ones in order to find out which is my favourite. One thing I always include in my tanning routine is the Solait Dry Oil which I use to tan my hands and feet as I hate tanning them with anything else, and I also use it to top up my tan if I want to make it a little darker too.

Food

July Favourites The Icon Londonderry Northern Ireland

The Icon, Londonderry
When my mum and I are both off work, we sometimes go out for a midweek lunch and The Icon is our usual port of call. I got the Spicy Chicken Pasta and to be completely honest, that's what I get the majority of the time that I'm there, although there is so much good food here.

Entertainment

July Favourites Entertainment Love Island YouTube Kendall Rae Baby Daddy

Love Island
This is one of my June Favourites but because of how obsessed I've been I've had to include it in this month's too. I was super pleased with the finalists and completely agreed with the voting. Chris and Kem were my absolute favourites though.

YouTube
This month I have been loving Kendall Rae's videos which look at missing people and people who were murdered. I especially love the videos she makes of missing people as she raises a lot of awareness for them and you never know they could be living amongst us and are just waiting to be saved, probably not in Northern Ireland but still for America it's really important to spread awareness.

Baby Daddy
This show has been out for YEARS and I've watched the odd episode here and there but I've been watching the show from the very beginning and I'm loving it. Definitely a show for people who love Friends, although nothing will ever be as good, but it still is a good watch.

Primark Haul

Friday, 28 July 2017
I love shopping in Primark, but I usually only pick up 1 item at a time, or maybe a handful of their false nails. But since I picked up a few things I thought I'd do a mini haul post on what I picked up.

Primark haul

Pyjama's
I love Primark's pyjama's and these are my favourite ones because they're really lightweight so they're perfect for the summer. And let's face it who doesn't love Disney pyjamas?

Primark haul

Umbrella
On the day that I was shopping in Primark, it started bucketing down but as it had looked like a nice day when I left the house I was not prepared, and so I picked up this gorgeous navy floral umbrella and I love it. I was expecting it to be quite flimsy but it's actually pretty strong which is always important where I live, as where there's rain there's usually a lot of wind to go along with it.

Primark haul

Thong
I love Primark's underwear and to be completely honest I don't own much underwear that isn't from Primark. These lacy thongs are perfect for underneath clingy bottoms as you don't get a full on knicker line which is something I personally hate and they look cute too which is a bonus.

Primark haul

Cushion
I'm mad about cushions, my bed is filled with them and as I've had some of them for a while, I thought I could do with a refresh and so I started looking for a couple of new additions to replace older ones. When I saw this one I thought it was perfect, it's quite a fat cushion and I loved that it fit really well with the others and I will definitely keeping my eyes open for more primark cushions as these are really good quality.

Primark haul

Denim Jacket
I have been looking for the perfect denim jacket for ages and I wasn't sure that if when I got one would I like it and wear it all the time so I didn't want to be paying anymore than £30 for it. So I looked on all the online shops like ASOS and New Look etc and they were all around £40 and they were never the perfect colour or perfect length for me so I could settle for any of them. Then on my primark trip I found the perfect one for just £12. I am so happy with it, and I wear it a lot as I find that the colour means that I can even wear it with jeans without it looking bad, as I'm not the biggest fan of double denim.

Wednesday Wishlist | Bikinis

Wednesday, 26 July 2017
I thought it was about time I did a proper summery wishlist of all the bikini combos I'd put together. I'm not usually one for bikini's and lying out in the sun, I'm much more of a wintery person to be honest. However, I did find myself browsing through countless bikinis and swimsuits the other day and I really wanted to just put one on, go to the pool and have a bit of a sunbathe.

First up is the cutest swimsuit ever from Boohoo, the Bali Mermaid Cut Out Swimsuit which if I owned it I would not stop wearing. I also chose the ASOS Oversized Aviator Sunglasses in Rose Gold and the Kurt Geiger Bettie Flatform Sandals to go along with it.

Outfit price: £63

The next beach outfit features the rather expensive but utterly gorgeous Lisa Marie Fernandez 'Marie-Louise' Bikini which I have paired with the Eliza Satin Tie Beach Sarong and South Beach Pink Grapefruit Beach Bag, I thought that these items looked perfect together with the grey contrasting with the bright summer pink. And you can't go to the beach without a beach bag to hold your essentials.

Outfit price: £338

This outfit is the most expensive, so of course that means that it's my favourite, but I could never afford it sadly. To start off I found Sub V-Neck Kaftan which would be great for covering up a bit if you were going into the shop. The favourite part of this outfit is the Zimmermann Tulsa Lattice-Panelled Mesh and Lace Triangle Bikini which is so simple, yet sexy due to the cut outs. This V by Very Metallic Bucket Beach Bag in Rose Gold then finishes the outfit perfectly adding some Rose Gold.

Outfit price: £662

The final outfit starts with the Beach Cover Up with Kimono Sleeve which I have paired with the Running Horses Print Plunge Bikini Top and absolutely gorgeous Fleur Du Mal Lace Up High Waist Bikini Bottom. I absolutely love these bottoms as they're quite full coverage, but the laces create a bit of something extra to the whole outfit.

Outfit price: £253

L'Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water

Monday, 24 July 2017
L'Oréal have bought out the Hydra Genius Aloe Water range which is inspired by Asian Skincare, the range includes 3 aloe waters which are suited to three skin types: normal to dry, normal to combination and dry + sensitive. I got mines in the 'normal to combination' and it is perfect for my skin as it doesn't add too much moisture, which would make my skin too oily then so it is instead perfectly balanced.

L'Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water

Packaging
I absolutely love the packaging of the L'Oréal Aloe Water as it looks sleek and it's sitting pride of place in my bathroom because it looks so nice. I really like when products look nice as well as doing what they say they do.

L'Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water

Application
I'm using this Aloe Water exactly how it says on the packaging. I use it alone, although you can pair it with a serum, but I prefer to not use too many skincare products because my skin doesn't react well to it. I use the Hydra Genius twice a day, morning and night, just one pump does my whole face and neck and all thats left to do is to massage it in to your skin in circular motions.

L'Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water

Formula
I honestly have no idea how to describe the consistency, its definitely not a cream, it looks like a gel but it's a lot softer than a gel and more like a liquid, but it isn't completely runny. What I love about the formula is that it is super lightweight and once its been on your face for 30 seconds its completely absorbed and your skin instantly feels more refreshed and a lot softer and smoother as well.

L'Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water

Ingredients
As you can see in the image above the L'Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water contains 'Pure Aloe Vera Sap' as well as 'Hyaluronic Acid' and these are key to giving you hydrated skin for longer. I always use moisturisers with hyaluronic acid as an ingredient, but there aren't many that actually mention it as well as this, and it is usually only listed in the ingredients list. This leads me to think that the hyaluronic acid is one of the main key ingredients that L'Oréal have considered to make this product so perfect.

Price
For a 70ml bottle, the L'Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water retails for £9.99 in Superdrug and Boots. This is an amazing price as a little goes a long way and it will last ages. I would definitely recommend this product to someone that has either dry, normal or combination skin as it definitely makes my skin look a lot healthier and more glowing.

The Stunning Antrim Coast | Murlough Bay

Friday, 21 July 2017
I absolutely love visiting the coast and looking out at the sea for even just 5 minutes completely relaxes me and makes me forget about everything else thats going on. Murlough Bay may just be on of my favourite places to visit because its so remote and it provides a lovely walk along the waters' edge.

Murlough Bay is a bay on the North Coast of Ireland in Co. Antrim between Fair Head and Torr Head. From the bay you can see the nearby Rathlin Island and on a clear day you can see as far as the Mull of Kintyre, Jura, Islay etc. (Scottish Islands).

Wednesday Wishlist | Skincare

Wednesday, 19 July 2017
I will admit that other than removing makeup at the end of the day, thats as far as my skin routine goes and to be completely honest my skin loves that and other than the odd breakout I don't have any issues really. But I do want to try out a few skincare products to make my skin even healthier, although I don't want to make my skin any worse. Since I've been doing research into different skincare brands and products I thought I would base this week's post on the top 4 brands that I am currently interested in trying out products from.

wednesday wishlist skincare - Pixi

First up is Pixi which is currently very popular amongst bloggers and I just love their packaging. The first Pixi product I've chosen for this wishlist is the Flawless & Poreless Primer which is getting great  reviews at the minute as it is said to smooth out fine lines, hydrate your skin and minimise pores. It is also said to be perfect for all skin types, as well as being oil-free and hypoallergenic. I find that sometimes my makeup either dries out my skin or makes it more oily and I think this primer could help me combat this.

Next up is the Pixi Glow Tonic which I think every blogger has wrote about and I'm not going to be the one to stop that. This tonic helps to tone firm and tighten the skin, removing dead skin cells which accelerates cell renewal to improve your complexion.

Now is the time for the product I'm probably most excited to give a go. The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse 2 in 1 which has a solid cleansing oil on one side and on the other is a cleansing cream and from the reviews I've been reading it is the best skincare product of 2017. The solid cleanser removes dirt and makeup whereas the cleansing cream conditions your skin and prepares it.

wednesday wishlist skincare - The ordinary

The next skincare brand I will be looking at is taking off particularly because it is so affordable, yet so amazing - The Ordinary. The first product I want to try out from this brand is their Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 which offers multi-depth hydration and visible plumping without drawing any water out of the skin.

Next from The Ordinary is their Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% which is a mild exfoliator and contains an ingredient which has been proven to reduce the signs of inflammation and sensitivity. They state that whilst using this product, and for a week afterwards you should use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure and so this proves how exfoliating the product is.

The final product I chose from this amazing skincare brand is their High-Spreadability Fluid Primer which with it's serum-like formula helps to act as a non-oily surface for a natural dewy look. I'm loving dewy-looking skin for the summer as it looks more natural and gives more of a glow.

wednesday wishlist skincare - Kiehl's

Kiehl's is probably one of the best of the high-end skincare brands and I'm always seeing them pop up in posts all the time and I can never resist having a read even though the majority of it is way out of my price range. The first product I chose was the Ultra Facial Toner which refines the surface texture of your skin as well as prepping your skin for moisturiser. I usually don't like toners because I feel like they make my skin feel uncomfortable however Kiehl's is PH-balanced and so it offers more comfort for your skin than regular toners.

Next up is the Midnight Recovery Concentrate which is said to give you younger-looking skin by morning and I know I'm young enough and whatnot but I feel like my skin does look tired from time to time and this could provide the radiance I'm looking for.

I love an oil-free cleanser and guess what Kiehl's have the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser and it seems absolutely amazing as it removes impurities and excess oil on the skin's surface without over-drying the skin.

wednesday wishlist skincare - Nip + Fab

To finish this post I have chosen the brand Nip + Fab which although it is readily available on the high-street is still one that has an air of luxury about it at the same time. The first product is the Viper Venom Fix Blurring Shot which hides pores and smoothes out the skin, allowing you to achieve instantly flawless skin.

The second Nip + Fab item I chose was their Glycolic Instant Fix Mask which is a pore-tightening gel mask that helps the skin's complexion by making it visually smoother. I really want smooth skin as at the minute mines is quite uneven and exfoliating mask seems like it would be perfect.

The final product I'm including in this post is the No Needle Fix Serum which is perfect for plumping your skin and blurring imperfections. I love the fact also that it is hydrating and I have heard so many good things about this product in particular as it smoothes and firms your skin.

What skincare brands do you love?

B. Makeup Brush Cleanser

Monday, 17 July 2017
I will be the first person to admit that I don't wash my makeup brushes as much as I probably should but I was always put off by the long drying process. BUT now that I have discovered this B. Makeup Brush Cleanser.

Before I got this brush cleaner I just used baby shampoo and water and although this did leave them very clean, I hated having to wait for them to air dry. But now with this B. cleanser all you have to do is give a few sprays of the cleanser to the brush and then I use my Makeup Revolution Pro Cleanse Tool to scrub the brush and ensure all of the old product is released from the bristles. Then I just wipe it onto a piece of kitchen roll and depending on how much product was on the brush I might repeat it a few times.

I used to use the brush cleaner from Makeup Revolution and although I didn't mind that one and it did the job, I find that this one is better and it doesn't leave a smell at all which is a bonus for me.

I definitely will be repurchasing the B. cleanser in the future as it is so handy to have and I'm not dreading washing my brushes anymore as it is just so quick and easy.

My Top 3 Primers

Friday, 14 July 2017
The other day I was going through my makeup and throwing out some products that were well past their due date and just throwing out products that I didn't really use because I had ones that were better and as I was looking at my primers I decided I would do a post on my top 3. So today I'm going to talk about my top 3 foundation primers and explain why I couldn't cope without any of them in my makeup collection.

In terms of packaging the GOSH Classic Velvet Touch Foundation Primer is my favourite of the three primers as I always prefer a pump dispenser and it looks very sleek, I would happily have this sitting on a shelf in my room.

With this primer, it's not too hydrating so although I do apply it more in drier areas, mainly my T-zone, I use it all over face.

The thing I like most about this GOSH primer is that its a gel formula, rather than a cream, which means that its more lightweight. This means that the Velvet Touch primer doesn't leave me feeling like I have a lot of makeup on my skin, although it still leaves a good barrier between my face and foundation.

The GOSH primer is available in Superdrug and retails at £12.99 (£43.30 per 100ml). This price may be higher than other primers, however I've found that I get more uses out of this and with 30ml contained it is a good enough size too.

Another of my favourite primers is another one from GOSH, the Primer Plus + Hydration. Again I like the look of the packaging however I do not like it as much as the Velvet Touch purely for the fact that it doesn't have a pump dispenser so I find that you do not get all of the product out of the tube. Although I always cut the tube when no more will come out and I put whatever's left into a jar container, just so that none goes to waste.

This is a very hydrating primer so I do tend to use it more when my skin is dry and due to the hot summer weather it is being used a lot more now than it has been the past few months.

This hydrating primer comes in a cream formula which settles really nicely into the skin and allows for makeup to be applied smoothly on top. I find that this primer makes my makeup last even longer as well as leaving my skin feeling more hydrated.

The GOSH Primer Plus + Hydration is £14.49 (£48.30 per 100ml) at Superdrug which is even more expensive than the previous and to be completely honest, I do prefer the Velvet Touch. However, I still really value this primer within my collection as it is essential for days when my skin is drier so I will be repurchasing it regardless of the price as it is well worth it.

I don't really like the packaging of this E.L.F primer as it feels really cheap when you hold it and I don't know how well it would hold up if you travelled with it as the casing seems quite thin.

This E.L.F primer is my favourite for when my skin is oily as I find that it gives quite a mattifying finish, and it keeps the oils at bay so that my makeup does not move at all during the day.

This primer is also cream and it includes a blend of Tea Tree and Vitamins A & E so my skin is getting some care during the day from the primer too.

At £7.50 (£53.57 per 100ml), for a good primer it is a decent price but unlike the two GOSH primers this E.L.F primer contains less than half of the product (14ml) and so it is actually in essence the most expensive of the three. Honestly, it is too expensive for what your getting and when I'm applying it I find that I do have to apply more in order to get the desired effect.

Overall, my most used primer would have to be the GOSH Velvet Touch Classic Primer, as it suits my skin best as it is not too hydrating and not too drying. Then if my skin was particularly dry I would tend to use the GOSH Primer + Hydrating to add some moisture and similarly if it was particularly oily I would go for the E.L.F Poreless Primer as this is quite mattifying.

Wednesday Wishlist | Pretty Little Thing

Wednesday, 12 July 2017
Today's wishlist post features one of the brands that pop up most on my Instagram feed and it's no wonder everyone loves them, Pretty Little Thing. All of the outfits I've put together for this post are quite dressy but I love the affordability of everything as well, which is always an important aspect for me.

Outfit number 1 features Soren White Lion Print Tie Front Blouse which is so cute and perfect for summer and I think it would look amazing with the Black Paperbag Waist Culottes. To finish off the outfit I chose these Enna Gold Single Strap Heeled Sandals

Wednesday Wishlist Pretty Little Thing Outfit 1

Outfit 2 is my favourite and I need the Evia Mid Wash Rose and Tiger Badge Distress Denim Jacket in my wardrobe so much and I thought that this Love Always Wins Slogan White T-Shirt would look amazing under it with the Verity Red Flippy Hem Mini Skirt. What is not to love about this outfit??

Wednesday Wishlist Pretty Little Thing Outfit 2

OMG Look at the back on this Black Eyelet Open Tie Back Top, it looks so modest on the front and the back just makes it so perfect for a night out. I then chose the Polka Dot Flare Hem Trousers to go with it and the Tria Black Faux Suede Wrap Platform Sandals which match in perfectly with the top.

Wednesday Wishlist Pretty Little Thing Outfit 3

The final outfit I created features the Airelle White Peplum Frill Cami Top and these White Porcelain Print Flair Hem Trousers which I think look so summery and I can imagine myself walking casually through the city in these as well as going out at night. To finish the outfit I chose these May Rose Gold Strap Heeled Sandals.
